National Early Childhood Credential
Child Care Standards
65C-22.001(6), and 65C-20.008(6), Florida Administrative Code
The National Early Childhood Credential includes the National Child Development Associate (CDA) or any other early childhood credential that meets or exceeds the requirements of the National CDA and is recognized by regulatory agencies in at least five (5) states.
Note: Recognition as a National Early Childhood Credential is determined by the Department.
Currently, the Department of Children and Families recognizes the following credentials as meeting the definition of National Early Childhood Certificate:
- Child Development Associate (CDA)
- National Child Care Association
- Association Montessori Internationale (AMI)
- American Montessori Society (AMS)
- Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education
Once the credential has been issued or renewed by the organization that issued the initial certification, the individual will need to submit a Florida Child Care Staff Credential Verification Application, CF-FSP 5211, October 2017, in order to renew their Florida Staff Credential Verification.
The Florida Staff Credential Verification will be active for the period specified on the credential being verified.
National Early Childhood Credential Renewal:
- As a Birth Through Five (FCCPC) by submitting the Florida Child Care Staff Credential Verification Application, CF-FSP Form 5211, October 2017, with renewal requirements attached;
OR
- By the organization that issued the original credential.
