Department of Children and Families Announces New Leadership

~Secretary Butterworth appoints Jack Moss as Regional Director in Southeast Florida~

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. -Florida Department of Children and Families Secretary Bob Butterworth announced today Jack Moss, current Broward County Circuit Administrator, will take on the role of Regional Director for Southeast Florida's Region encompassing Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe and Palm Beach counties. In accordance with the passage of Senate Bill 1394, the Department is restructuring into five regional offices which will provide support to 20 Department circuits. As Southeast Florida Regional Director, Moss is tasked with providing administrative support functions for all Department circuits located within the region.

"Jack has proven himself as a leader and an innovator in Broward County," said Butterworth. "Judging by his career, it's obvious he's committed to public service and to his community. I am confident he will take the reigns and keep community-based care in this region headed in the right direction."

Moss will retain his leadership role in the Department's 17th Circuit (Broward County) while additionally taking on the role of Director for the Southeast Florida Region. Moss joined the Department in 2001 having formerly served as the Broward County Welfare Director and as Chairman and founding member of the Coordinating Council of Broward County, aimed at developing coordinated education, health and human service programs county-wide.

In addition, Moss has served on the Children's Services Council of Broward County, United Way of Broward County and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services administration in Broward. Moss also served as the President of the Greater Ft. Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce.

A former Broward County Commissioner, Moss holds a Master's degree in Public Administration from Nova Southeastern University, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from the University of Florida.
