Who's Really Watching Your Child?
More than 25 percent of child protective investigations last year involved a non-relative caregiver as the alleged perpetrator.
The “Who’s Really Watching Your Child?” campaign brings together child care providers, child welfare professionals, medical physicians and state agencies together to help provide safe environments for Florida's children ages 0 - 4. We encourage parents to know the backgrounds and parenting skills of anyone who is watching their child.
Here are just a few resources available:
- Parents can find local parenting programs to support them through their child's early years.
- A free Parenting Guide is available in e-book format, online and in hardcopy, and covers topics including how to soothe a crying baby, potty training and addressing temper tantrums.
- Information and resources to find the best child care will help parents learn questions to ask to make sure their child gets the best care for their specific needs.
- Free materials for parenting program providers to expand current initiatives or start new ones.
To help provide child care to children in need, we encourage businesses, community organizations and individuals to consider sponsoring a child's child care placement through their local Early Learning Coalition. This will ensure a child's safety and allow parents the opportunity to go to work.
Parents, providers and professionals can call 2-1-1 to be connected with a representative who can provide information on local resources available.
We are very thankful for all the campaign's partners!
